British luxury giants Mulliner and Boodles have collaborated to create a bespoke masterpiece – the Boodles Continental GTC. This one-of-a-kind open-top grand tourer is a testament to exquisite design, unparalleled craftsmanship, and a shared commitment to heritage.
A Symphony of Understated Elegance of MULLINER AND BOODLES
The Boodles Continental GTC exudes timeless elegance. The Anthracite exterior finish perfectly complements the light grey fabric roof, highlighting the sleek lines of Bentley’s iconic open tourer. Mulliner’s signature 22-inch wheels boast a polished Tungsten paint finish, while gloss black brake calipers add a touch of sportiness. Subtle hints of Boodles’ identity are woven throughout the exterior. A Powder Pink pinstripe accents the Styling Specification front spoiler, sills, and rear spoiler. “Boodles 1798” badges adorn the front fenders, and upon entry, the Boodles logo illuminates the ground from welcome lamps.
MULLINER AND BOODLES Jewel Box Interior
Stepping inside the Boodles Continental GTC is akin to opening a luxurious jewel box. The meticulously crafted interior features a modern color scheme. Linen upholstery serves as the base, complemented by elegant Porpoise grey accents on the seat backs, fascia top roll, gear lever, and steering wheel. Boodles’ signature Powder Pink adds a vibrant touch on the steering wheel tab, inner door pockets, and console side pockets.
Meticulous Attention to Detail
The Boodles Continental GTC is a masterclass in bespoke details. The seats are adorned with piping and hand cross-stitching in Powder Pink that outlines the seats, fascia, console, and waist rails. The door panels and upper seat backs showcase a mesmerizing blind-stitch embroidery of the interlocking “Be Boodles” motif, requiring an astonishing 278,566 stitches and six hours of meticulous work.
A true centerpiece is the “Be Boodles Bentley” pendant, intricately crafted and set into the center console. This one-off piece features mirrored diamond-set “B” emblems reminiscent of antique lace, crafted from 18ct Single Mine Origin white gold. Completing the exquisite interior are a pair of loose cushions embroidered with “Boodles 1798” and edged with Powder Pink piping.
Precious Materials and Bespoke Touches
The Boodles Continental GTC is a treasure trove of precious materials. The fascia and door waist rails feature a stunning dual-finish of Piano Linen and Autumn Stone veneers, separated by a Powder Pink pinstripe. Advanced laser-cutting techniques allow Mulliner to create incredibly thin (one-tenth of a millimeter) veneer panels from natural stone formed over 200 million years ago.
Mulliner’s Knurling Specification graces dials, bezels, air vents, and controls, lending them a jewel-like finish that reflects light from multiple facets. The air vent vanes are painted in Powder Pink, complementing the fascia pinstripe, while the “organ stop” controls are plated in 24ct gold. Boodles’ heritage is further emphasized with “Boodles 1798” overlays on the lower fascia veneer and door waist rails. The Bentley Rotating Display features a central dial showcasing the Boodles jewelry motif, and illuminated door sills and “one-of-one” engraved treadplates add the finishing touches.
A Legacy of Excellence
Both Mulliner and Boodles possess a rich heritage in British craftsmanship. Mulliner, Bentley’s bespoke division, dates back to a 1760 Northampton coachbuilding firm commissioned to create coaches for the Royal Mail. Boodles, established in 1798, has become synonymous with exceptional jewelry design. Their “Raindance” ring even earned a place in the V&A Museum’s permanent collection as an icon of British jewelry.
The Boodles Continental GTC is a culmination of this shared legacy, a masterpiece that embodies the pinnacle of design and craftsmanship. This one-of-a-kind creation will be offered for sale starting April 11th.
